I wanted something comfortable but not lightweight. After three weeks in the tropics I can attest that these shorts are the right shorts for the climate. They dry outside in a couple of hours should you need to hand wash and while the cloth is thicker than lightweight fabric, it does not cling to the body. Pockets are generously sized for wallet and phone. The fit is about half size too loose but not an issue as I prefer my clothes baggy. One comment my wife made was that these do not look like the typical old man bulky cargo shorts. This means I can order more.
These shorts are perfect for wearing around the city, the beach, light hikes, or inside a non-air conditioned bus. I'm not sure I would use these on any adventurous activity that has the potential to tear fabric. Your experience may be different but based on my experiences, this grade of fabric isn't for adventure.
Because of my experience, I definitely would buy these again.
